Hello, I'm Indigo and this is my video game walkthrough blog. I'm not amazing but I try my best. I mostly do rpg's because faster paced games are more difficult to screenshot, but that's mostly what I play to begin with so it works out well. Games are mostly going to be Nes/Snes/Gameboy/Gameboy Advance. I hope what I've done can be helpful!

Pokemon Gold Version (Part V)

Welcome back, today we're going to be running around a lot. You may want to buy a few Escape Ropes and stock up on Repels. The first thing I'm going to do is go back to the house in Goldenrod where I got Bill's number. Make sure you have an empty space in your party for this.

Agree to Bill's request and you will get Eevee. It is a normal-type Pokemon, but it is unique in the fact that you can evolve it into one of five different Pokemon, each with different types.

Vaporeon
Using a Water Stone on Eevee will evolve it into Water type Vaporeon.
Jolteon
A Thunder Stone will turn it into Electric type Jolteon.
Flareon
A Fire Stone gets you Fire type Flareon.
Espeon
Leveling Eevee up with high affection during the morning or day will give you Psychic type Espeon.
Umbreon
Leveling Eevee up with high affection at night will give you Dark type Umbreon.

In my opinion, Espeon is probably the only one with a good move set. Though if you want it to actually have a Psychic-type move before level 31 you'll have to breed a new Eevee and evolve that one; it learns Confusion at level 16 and you get Eevee at level 20.

As you go to exit the city, make sure you have an empty space in your party again. Talk to this guard and he'll give you a Spearow holding some mail. We might as well deliver it, because we've got some backtracking to do to get some stuff anyway.

When you exit the guard house (on the north side) surf across the water and check the fruit tree here for a Mystery Berry which will restore some of a Pokemon's PP. Now head up past where Sudowoodo was and east through Violet City, and then right out the gate that we came in the very first time we arrived in the city. The man we're delivering the Spearow to is standing out by the berry tree.

This is our reward, TM50 Nightmare. Now, go back to Violet City and get Togepi out of the PC if you don't have it with you, then call Professor Elm and let him know the egg hatched. He wants to see the baby, so let's go show him.

Our reward for traveling all this way is a hold item that prevents a Pokemon from evolving. How useful. On your way back through Cherrygrove City, stuff a Pokemon you don't need in the PC again and take out something to teach Flash to (unless you've already got something like that with you). Then surf out to the east and talk to the man standing on a small island there.

This item can be held by a Pokemon to power up its Water type moves. This comes in useful for Pokemon like Krabby and Totodile who don't have a very high special attack score, but of course it can also be used to boost the moves of something like Vaporeon or Slowpoke even further.

Head north now and enter the cave you come across - this is Dark Cave.

Light up the area and make your way around to this item ball containing a regular Potion. Head south and then go east smashing through a couple rocks (you may encounter Krabby doing this). Ignore the water for now, it leads to an inner chamber we can't do anything with at the moment.

When you come to a fragile rock to your north, break through it and get this hidden item behind it. Go east from here for an item ball with a Hyper Potion and then jump down the ledge below you.

Continue on a straight path south to come across another item ball, this one with a Full Heal. Continue south, right out the cave exit and get a Przcure Berry and Berry to your left. Jump down the ledge and then you will have a choice of paths.

Either way, you'll end up in the patch of grass behind the guard house between Newbark and Cherrygrove. Head all the way up to Violet City now.

Above the Pokemon Center is a path with a small tree, so cut it down and go in behind to find this hidden item.

Go up a bit further and surf on the water, making your way up to this open area with a Rare Candy waiting for you. This will instantly level up the Pokemon that you use it on.

Between the gym and the PokeMart is another stretch of water to surf on, this one bringing you to a PP Up.

Surf back to the main part of town, then go west in the direction of the path leading to Goldenrod and Ecruteak,  but just before you leave the city go south through the guard house. You will now be in the Ruins of Alph.

Go into the chamber on your right and inspect the blank part of the mural to start a tile puzzle.

This is what it will look like when you are done. There are four of these puzzles in total, and each one will cause more Unown forms to appear in the lower part of the ruins. There are 24 forms in all - one for each letter of the alphabet. There's not really any reason to collect all of them, but hey if you want to go ahead. To reach the next puzzle go back up and outside, then south and surf across the water.

And here is the completed second puzzle. Go back outside once again, and exit the ruins to the east. Go south a bit and you should easily spot a tree that you can cut down, so do so and talk to the man in this small enclosed area.

You will receive TM05 Roar which I can't imagine there ever really being a desperate need for, but oh well. I'm sure someone must have thought there was one for it to be made a TM in the first place. Continue south all the way to Union Cave now.

Go down to this small pool below the Pokemaniac trainer and surf across, going down the ladder when you reach the other side.

When the battle is one go down the next ladder.

Surf over to the northeast corner of the room and get the Elixer that is sitting waiting for you. Go south, skipping the first little island (there's nothing there) and continuing to the end. There's another trainer here.

If you come down here on a Friday, you can find a Lapras swimming around in the water to the right of the last Cooltrainer. It comes at level 20.

When you are done down here, backtrack all the way to the first floor. Go and heal in Azalaea Town first if you need to, then go down the ladder behind the Pokemaniac trainer. You can probably tell where this is going; surf across the water in this lower level until you reach the other side.

For now I'm going to go south, so have a Pokemon with Strength move the boulder out of your way. Go up the stairs. Jump off the ledge to your left and enter the chamber.

This is the third tile puzzle. After you drop down, make your way back up and then all the way back to where Hiker Phillip is (heal on your way if you need to, of course). Take the north exit this time.

And this is the last tile puzzle. No matter how many times I play this game, I can never just put this one together right away like I can with the others. I just expect it to look different than it does, I guess.

Anyway, now that we're all done with this head through the Union Cave one last time - right through this time to come out by Azalea town. Go down into the Slowpoke Well, up by where you fought the last of the Team Rocket members. Push the boulder aside with strength, go down, and surf over to the ladder.

On the right side of the lower room, check this item ball for TM18 Rain Dance. Over on the other side of the room, talk to a Super Nerd wandering around to get the King's Rock. With this done, exit the place and make your way back through Ilex Forest.

Head north toward Goldenrod City, but just before you reach the Daycare go west and surf down a couple spaces and so that you can get to the other side of the fence.

Grab this hidden item, then surf further south so get to a small secluded area (I guess it's supposed to be like a beach) with three trainers to go up against.

Talk to Kate after you've defeated all three sisters and she will give you the Soft Sand, which can be held to power up ground-type moves.

Finally, we'll bring everything full-circle by returning to the man who gave us a Spearow with mail for his friend, and he will reward us for the errand with an HP Up. Hooray! Thankfully, there are no more events for a little while.

And that's it for this section. Yes, really. No gym battle or anything, but I'll make up for that next time because I'll likely throw the next two gyms in together. The balance shall be restored!
