Hello, I'm Indigo and this is my video game walkthrough blog. I'm not amazing but I try my best. I mostly do rpg's because faster paced games are more difficult to screenshot, but that's mostly what I play to begin with so it works out well. Games are mostly going to be Nes/Snes/Gameboy/Gameboy Advance. I hope what I've done can be helpful!

Pokemon Gold Version (Part VI)

If you left off at the point I led you to in the last section, you shouldn't have a very long trek back to Olivine City, which is our next destination that will actually have us progressing through the game again.

We are going to be making our way through the lighthouse in the southeast corner of town, which of course is full of trainers. For now, avoid all the pits you see on your way up.

Speak to Jasmine up on the top floor, then collect the Super Potion hiding up in the corner. Drop down the pit on the right side of the room and keep going till you reach the bottom, then exit the lighthouse. Heal if you need to, then go over to the southwest end of town.

Get this hidden item under a rock, then start surfing south, and get ready for some more trainers.

Keep going west and you will arrive at a large island, which is actually Cianwood City. Make your way to the northern tip of the island.

Smash the rock in the position shown, and get the hidden item underneath.

Go south a bit more and get another hidden item, under another rock.

If you talk to the green haired man in the house left of the Pokemon Center, you can receive a Shuckle (Bug/Rock type) which isn't very useful as an attacker, but has very high defense and special defense. It also comes with a Berry Juice item. You can catch your own Shuckle outside by using Rock Smash on the rocks spread around, and even make your own Berry Juice by giving it regular Berries to hold for a while (I believe it's 20 minutes).

Head to the most southern house on the island and talk to the man inside. He'll give you the item you need to heal the Pokemon back at the lighthouse - but we've got two more things to do before we head back. The first one is take on the gym leader west of the pharmacy.

Cianwood City Gym Challenge

The trainers here all use Fighting-type Pokemon which can be overpowered with Psychic or Flying types. Some Psychic Pokemon like Kadabra or Alakazam have very poor physical defense, which puts them in grave danger if they can't take the opponent out in one hit. Most Flying-types (that actually know Flying moves) are part Normal type which means they won't resist counter attacks at all. Ghost types will be immune to Fighting-type moves, but that doesn't make them safe. Some of the Pokemon know moves like Thunderpunch, but at the very least they will be safe from the gym leader's most powerful attacks.

Storm Badge.png
With the Storm Badge in your possession, you can use Fly outside of battle. Pokemon at or below Lv.70 will always obey you now as well. This time we get TM01 Dynamicpunch.

Head outside and talk to the woman right below the gym to get HM02 Fly. Teach this to a Pokemon right away and then use it to transport instantly back to Olivine City. Go give Jasmine the Secretpotion (yes, all the way up again) and then come aaaall the way back down and go to the gym.

Olivine City Gym Challenge

There are no trainers here - only Jasmine, and she's a tough opponent. Her Steel-type Pokemon are weak to Fighting, Fire, and Ground. If you started with Cyndaquil you'll be well off, though her strongest Pokemon is also part Ground so you'll need to watch out for that. The other two effective types won't encounter much opposition, but her main Pokemon is level 35 so unless you have been doing some serious grinding your entire team will probably be below it. You can also buy the TM for Fire Punch from Goldenrod and teach it to something like Ampharos for the two weaker Pokemon, and then use a water type for the main challenge. If you go for this strategy, make sure you have the Mystic Water equipped because it will use Sunny Day (which will weaken water-type moves for 5 turns) and Jasmine also has a Hyper Potion up her sleeve.

  1. Jasmine was always a pain for me, no matter what my team. I just had to get lucky. I think I ended up spamming sand attack on her Steelix in the end.
I also didn't know that Shuckle could make Berry Juice! I've been replaying my copy of Silver and that will be useful
