Hello, I'm Indigo and this is my video game walkthrough blog. I'm not amazing but I try my best. I mostly do rpg's because faster paced games are more difficult to screenshot, but that's mostly what I play to begin with so it works out well. Games are mostly going to be Nes/Snes/Gameboy/Gameboy Advance. I hope what I've done can be helpful!

Live A Live: Contact

One of my favourite Live a Live chapters, for sure. It has random encounters to fight (I like playing around with my characters okay?), a whole bunch of items to find, and a handful of tasty secrets. Also the crafting mechanic is way better than the "refining" system in another chapter. But that's enough hype, let's get on with it.

For once I didn't have any trouble thinking up an alternate name for my character - this time around I went with 'Gau'. When you start, go right and interact with the Gorilla to wake him up and have Gori join the party. Check the drawer in this room to get a Big Stick. Exit to room and wake another caveman, then proceed to the middle room in this hallway. Check the drawers here for a Hard Rock, Big Stick and a Hide. The first of this chapter's secrets is also located in this room, but that information will be located in a separate section. Go into the last room in this hallway to get a Big Stick and a Bone.

Go back and take the exit into the main part of the cave. There is nothing in the northeast room currently, and the southwest room contains a guy who will craft items (crafting mechanics are in a separate section as well). Head into the northwest room and get another Big Stick and then talk to the old guy. Go back and head through the northernmost doorway in the main cave, then follow this path to an exit.

As FuSoYa suggests, press the Y button to sniff for enemies. They will appear as white clouds and when you run into them you will get in a battle. Youneed three Meaty Bone items to fulfill your objective, so fight the enemies provides and then hand the items over to the chief. You can go back out again if you want a few more items for yourself or if you wish to do a bit of leveling up. When you're done head back to the character's room.

You'll wake up to find Gori missing, so let's go find the pesky fellow. First go back to the chief's room and head into the section at the back where the old man is sleeping. Check the drawers here for a Stone Knife and a Leather Cord, two very useful crafting items. Exit and head to the northeast where you will find the ape sleeping beside a bare meat bone. Inspect it and then leave the room. Head right back in and inspect the bone for a Bone (what else?) and then sniff around the haystacks.

Keep sniffing and poking around and eventually the haystack will run to the other side of the room. Pick up the piece of meat from the floor and then walk over to it and you will be prompted to offer an item. Select the meat then leave the room and come back once more. Inspect the haystack and you will meet Bel. Interact with Gori and then try to return to your room, but the guard is not cooperating. Return to the room with the meat and inspect the haystack Bel was hiding in to disguise her. Return to your room and watch some more scenes.

In the morning inspect the haystack to be given your next objective. Which is the first objective over again - go out and thump some enemies and get some food to give to Bel. You can also give her a Wild Dress crafted using a Hide + Leather Cord and she will flash you, giving the character a nosebleed. Once you proceed past this point you will no longer be able to access the first secret of the chapter so check the extras section now if you have not yet done so. Go back to where you exit to fight the enemies and talk to the guy to the north, then go back to the main cave for some scenes.

Zaki you're crazy, that old man looks nothing like Bel. Anyway, fight time. Since you haven't had the chance to equip or train her at all, Bel is going to be n danger continuously, but it's not all that important that you keep her alive. You'll battle four basic enemies first, which you can just take down with your character's BashBash and Gori's Ngah (yes those are the technique names). The fight with Zaki is more challenging, just try to stay out of his vertical line of fire as he can do a fair bit of damage from a good distance.

When the fights are over we are tossed from the village. There are a couple more craftsmen out here for you to still make items, but we can now only get materials from random battles. Equip Bel with anything you have and train up a bit. There's a cave to the northeast that you can enter for a scene, then exit to fight more enemies. When you are ready make your way through the cave, you should probably be at least level 7 or 8. Inspect the fire pit for a scene, and eventually you will be tossed into another battle.

This fight isn't too hard if you know BoomBoom. With the proper equipment his attacks will be dealing in the area of 1-4 damage (at least they were for me). Just keep jumping on his head till he goes down, and when the battle is over go down and poke Gori. Head north and inspect the left side corner to go through the previously hidden doorway and you'll end up falling down a hole here. This will initiate a sort of dream sequence, all you have to do here is head straight north until you activate a scene.

You will end up in a very dark chamber, which you should probably be able to see enough to at least navigate to the top left. One space right from the northwest corner is a spot that if you will inspect will cause the room to grow a bit lighter. Only hit it twice though, a third time will cause you to break out and you won't be able to get back in.

Down in the pit you'll encounter these mole enemies which are extremely annoying because you can only harm them with area attacks like Oo -Burp- and Uki! -Burp-. I don't think they even give very good experience, but you'll need to clear then out of the way to make things easier. You can also find crocodile enemes that can cause a lot of hurt, and if you sniff around you can find a couple Meaty Bones. Exit the pit, and then follow Zaki and the others out the north end.

Once you are out of here you will start to find tougher enemies. The mammoths especially can be tough, though they drop this chapter's best healing item - Giant Meaty Bones. I don't know if it's just my luck or what, but the female mammoths seem to drop them about five times as often. If you are planning on seeking out this chapter's other secrets, you will want as many of these items as you can. You'll also want to train up to at least level 16 probably. We can't access this secret yet though, so for now head left and up through a doorway.

Head up along the right-hand ledge and you will see some female gorillas being transported between caves. As you go back down Gori will storm past, beating up a guard and giving you access to the Ku Tribe Caves. Don't go into the two leftmost doorways or this will happen. You can easily take out the whole mess of them with an Oooh! Oooh! attack, but it's just a bother with no reward. Not only will you fight this horde, you will get booted back out of the cave and be constantly rushed by Ku Tribe enemies. Enter the doorway on the right and check the drawers for a Stone Knife, a Hide, and a Hard Rock.

Keep interacting with Gori here until he re-joins you, then head through the doorway to the right with a skull above it. To the left is a room with a Big Stick and a Bone and to the right is another skull door. Here you will have to weave through a narrow passage while Ku Tribe men flood toward you. Once you have stepped inside the chamber on the other side, you now have access to this chapter's remaining secrets. These award you with very good items and are definitely worth seeking out. If you do get them, make sure they are equipped before you proceed beyond here or else you will lose them forever.

Chapter Boss: O-D-O    [992 HP]

When you are done head through the last chamber and you will go through some scenes. The fight with Zaki isn't a real fight, just keep wailing on him until you get cut off and after some events you will be thrown into this chapter's final fight. Zaki will also join you for this, so it's pretty hard to lose. If you have the best weapons/armor and trained up to fight the King Mammoth, he really doesn't stand a chance. Not only this, but if you got Bel to level 7 her Laa Laa attack will kill it in one shot.

If you have a less maximized set up, stand directly beside or below it. You want to avoid a diagonal position. Have Gori create a poison field, have Bel heal and just beat down on him with Gori's Ngah and your main character's Bash Bash, Boom Boom or Dodegesden if you have it. Zaki is fairly useless, but he has a kick attack (I think it's called Barikyoon) that can lower the boss's stats. He has about 900 hp I believe, but since Gori and your main character can deal at least 100 each every turn, there shouldn't be much to worry about.

When you've beaten it, watch the scenes and you are done the caveman chapter!

  1. Agreed, this chapter was one of the more "RPG-like" of the lot and was just funny to boot. Getting that Cola bottle is a pain though.

  2. I've only ever got the Cola Bottle once, and I forgot to equip it before the end of the chapter so I lost it -.- The King Mammoth is an asshole anyway.

    2. Yes! Getting to use him for the final battle in this chapter was a nice touch, but for some reason his abilities seem much less useful when I'm the one using them >.>
