Hello, I'm Indigo and this is my video game walkthrough blog. I'm not amazing but I try my best. I mostly do rpg's because faster paced games are more difficult to screenshot, but that's mostly what I play to begin with so it works out well. Games are mostly going to be Nes/Snes/Gameboy/Gameboy Advance. I hope what I've done can be helpful!

Pokemon Gold Version (Part II)

First thing's first, let's go to Pokemon Center and talk to Professor Elm's assistant.

Pokemon Eggs hatch after you've taken a certain number of steps, determined by the species inside the egg. This one contains a Togepi which should hatch around the time we take on the third gym. Togepi is a Normal-type Pokemon whose main move is Metronome, which isn't very reliable. It evolves based on "affection" - something new to this generation, which means you must use it in battle often and not let it faint. Using items on it also makes it happy. Its evolved form is Normal/Flying.

Next head south from Violet City along Route 32. You will see this tree along the way, so get the Przcure Berry from it. Head south some more.

This man, who previously wouldn't let you pass, will now give you the Miracle Seed if you've defeated Falkner and obtained the Pokemon Egg. You are also free to pass into the rest of the route.

I captured this fellow to make use of his Thunder Wave move to catch lots of other Pokemon in the future. Also it's one of the best special attackers in the region.

Note: Register Ralph's phone number when you're done with the battle, he will notify you of a Pokemon swarm. These are instances where a Pokemon that is usually nearly impossible to find suddenly appears in large numbers. The particular one he notifies you of is for Qwilfish.

If you're having your mom save your money, you'll get a call like this sometimes. Some of what you get is healing items like a Super Potion or a Full Heal, but she will also sometimes buy you dolls and other decorations for your room back in Newbark Town. As far as I know, that is the only way to get many of them.

Spr GS Camper.png

In the patch of grass east of the camper you will find this item ball containing a Great Ball.

Wooper Lv.10 || Water / Ground || 111 exp

Like the bike in the previous generation, the Slowpoke Tail this guy wants to sell you is one dollar outside the maximum amount of money the game lets us carry, so we'll have to decline his offer. He doesn't seem to take it very well, though.

Just past the grumpy salesman is another hidden item, this time a Great Ball. Yay!

In the exact same spot on Friday, you can find another weekday sibling. Freida will give you a Poison Barb for boosting Poison-type moves.

Talk to the man inside the Pokemon Center to receive an Old Rod, and then go north to the bridge and fish yourself up a Magikarp if you want. Then go south from the Pokemon Center.

On the opposite end of this lower level is an X Defend. Also note that Onix seem much more common down here, if you are looking to catch one (and didn't get one from the trade in Violet City).

Back up top, go right from where you fought the Pokemaniac and take the first path leading down. The item ball here has an Awakening.

Head west a bit and you've reached the next town. This one has another two-part sign; "Azalea Town, Where people and Pokemon live in happy harmony."

Our first destination in tiny Azalea Town is Kurt's house in the northwest corner. You can get a White Apricorn from the tree outside before going in.

When you talk to the man inside he'll rush off, so follow him back in the direction of Union Cave. You'll come across the Slowpoke Well (marked with a sign).

Grab this hidden item, then make your way down the steps that were previously blocked off by a man in black.

After the battle you will automatically end up back at Kurt's place. Talk to him to receive a Lure Ball. Now that Team Rocket has been booted out of town, we can go over to the gym.

Azalea Town Gym Challenge
Cyndaquil will do very well here, it will likely evolve into Quilava before the gym is done if it hasn't already. Hoothoot, Pidgey, and Spearow will all have an advantage here as well. If you have a Geodude or Onix that knows Rock Throw, they could be useful as well, especially against the leader's strongest Pokemon. Grass-type moves won't have much effect, but the Pokemon themselves are more in danger from Poison Sting than anything else. Only the leader's strongest Pokemon knows a damage-dealing Bug-type move.

*Note: Since the gym is an open area I'll just list the trainers from lowest position on the screen to the highest. The gym leader will still be last though, even though he's in the middle.

  1. Mareep!
The game just ends up incredibly easy when you have one of those bad boys! I love Mareep.

  2. I love Mareep too, the first time I played Crystal version I wandered around FOREVER looking for one and was very unhappy to find out there wasn't any in the game at all. I try not to use them too often, but I only wanted to use gen 2 Pokemon in this run, and I find a lot of them just... aren't that good. I'm mostly keeping Mareep as backup and to use Thunder Wave for catching stuff, though.
